Did you see us in the news? CBS Chicago recently aired a story on our shelter as the city’s first-of-its-kind dorm-style model for homeless men, interviewing two of our clients. Resident Ray Smith shared, “[The shelter] is a stepping stone. It’s a place to help me move forward in life.”
It’s the first men’s shelter where residents share a sleeping room with only one other person. That personal space allows men to store their belongings safely and sleep securely, restoring dignity after the trauma of living on the streets of Chicago.
Living a normal life in the shelter has become a powerful motivator. When men can leave their belongings safely, sleep securely, and wake up to a space that feels their own, they’re more determined to pursue a job, an apartment, and a new beginning.
This sense of “normal life” restores dignity and creates a community where men feel supported to heal and move forward. Together, they’re building stability and independence.
Now we need your help to keep this work going. Collectively, small gifts lay the stepping stones that help men get back on track with their lives. Can we count on you to make a $20 donation today?
