IF INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT REMOTE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES PLEASE EMAIL US AT firstname.lastname@example.org
Below you'll find some of the various volunteer opportunities NSHSS has to offer and our two locations, our offices in Ravenswood and our Shelter in Uptown. If you are interested in volunteering (either alone or with a group of your friends, family, coworkers, etc.) please fill out the corresponding volunteer application form.
PREPARE AND SERVE MEALS AT OUR SHELTER
We're always looking for small groups to prepare and serve meals at our shelter. We need the most help serving breakfast and dinner 7 days a week. Breakfast is typically served at 6am and dinner is served at 6pm (we have an outside group that takes care of lunch everyday).
SPEND TIME WITH RESIDENTS AT OUR SHELTER
The residents at our men's shelter love interacting with their neighbors and having a chance to relax and have some fun. Consider dropping by our shelter to talk with our residents, play games, do a demonstration or organize a fun activity.
ORGANIZE OUR DONATION ROOM
We get a lot of in-kind donations of clothing, shoes, food and more and our staff doesn't always have time to keep donations organized so our clients can more easily look through them. We would love to have your help!
HELP US AROUND THE OFFICE
With a small staff, we could always use help with tasks around our office: covering the front desk, stuffing envelopes, data entry, making phone calls to donors and clients and more!
OFFER YOUR SPECIALIZED SKILLS
Limited resources are a constant struggle for a lot of much needed skills so we are always happy when people are willing to offer their talents as volunteers. We try to match your skill-sets with our needs. For example, freelance photographers who want to give back by offering photo shoots. Not sure if we have a need for your skills? Fill out the form and find out!
JOIN OUR ASSOCIATE BOARD
Our Associate Board is a group of young professionals who help with fundraising, special events, complete volunteer projects, and act as ambassadors for our agency and mission in the community. If you are extremely passionate about ending homelessness in Chicago then please consider applying today by filling out the associate board volunteer application form. For more information contact our Executive Director, Laura Michalski.
