Help More People Like Teresa Find a Home All Year Long

Teresa came to us in March after her apartment building was sold. She was given very short notice to move, and without savings or family to take her in, she quickly became homeless and entered a shelter. She was on a fixed income and had lost vital documents in the chaos of being forced to leave her home. All of this made it nearly impossible for her to secure housing on her own.

Our Housing Navigator immediately helped her secure a replacement ID and Social Security card, and together they began searching for her new home.

Through our partnership with Holsten Human Capital Development, which develops low income and affordable housing, our team was able to identify prospective homes for Teresa. We provided transportation to her apartment viewings, supported her through the entire application process, and helped her move in with food, clothing, and essential kitchen supplies. Today she is safely housed in her new home. She is no longer living in crisis and is now rebuilding her life with dignity.

A supporter was so moved by our Giving Tuesday community that they pledged a surprise $10,000 match on top of the match goal we already reached. Their match will include 12 months of any new monthly donor’s gift. This means:
