Day Support Services Center
Our Day Support Services Center opened on April 2nd. The program is located at 4750 N. Sheridan, Second Floor. For more information, please contact Nedra Summerrise, Director at (773) 564-9960. The center will provide intensive case management, substance abuse counseling, veteran specific programming including peer support, and a number of other referrals. New staff in the program and joining the North Side team are:

Nedra Summerrise, MA, CADC has a long history in the nonprofit and for profit sectors in conjunction with education including serving as a case manager for Housing Opportunities for Women. She is Director of the Day Support Services Center and will focus on enhancing our community partnerships and coordinated services.

Mitchell Chmelik, LSW is a recent graduate and has served as a case manager intern for the Arizona Department of Probation and Health Care for the Homeless in Arizona, helping clients to move forward through support and advocacy. He is a full-time case manager for the Center.

Carlos Gomez is the Center’s Office Service Coordinator. Carlos has an extensive background in volunteerism and working with individuals impacted by substance use. Carlos is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Dave Rogers serves as our Certified Peer Support Specialist at the Center. He is also a United States veteran and the Executive Director of VetNet, a veteran’s advocacy agency helping to equalize opportunities and resources for our nation’s veterans.

Kesha Burch lends her support to the Center as a LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor), with a MA in Psychology from Northwestern University. She has more than 15 years of professional experience as a therapist and maintains a commitment to healthy and safe communities through various professional and personal endeavors. Ms Burch is dedicated to addressing mental health concerns in others and witnessing their success when they are empowered to meet their goals.

Kristy Engel earned her BA in Psychology from Adelphi University (Long Island, NY) in 2005. She has worked for various nonprofit organizations providing emotional/behavioral support therapy and case management services for youth in foster care, families and children with autism disorders, and adults with mental illness. Ms Engel is currently pursuing her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. She serves as a part-time case manager at the Center.

Dorian Daniels is a full-time case manager at the Center. She earned her BA in Pyschology from the University of Michigan in 2005. Her background includes education and training in psychology, intergroup relations, service learning, and group facilitation. Ms Daniels is working on attaining her CADC in substance abuse counseling. Dorian’s experiences addressing urban and rural poverty isssues include street outreach in Chicago, volunteering at a Lakota Indian reservation in South Dakota and research and teaching in Mexico. Dorian is bilingual in English and Spanish.
