In addition to its Pathways supportive employment program, NSHSS will add 28 Days to Employment as a new program component. The innovative program is rapidly growing as a state-of-the art tool for helping those hard to employ (i.e. with felony records, sparodic work history, lack of skills, etc.) to find not just a “job”, but land a career based on their gifts and talents. Twenty-Eight Days is the brainchild of CJ Brown, a US veteran who was once homeless, “Careers are found in “the hidden” job market”, Brown shared at a meeting with North Side’s Executive Director, Geri Palmer and Employment Services and Senior Case Manager, Nanette Tucker.

The program runs for six-weeks, two hours per week, and is slated to begin in early March. The weekly sessions includes working from a manual and homework. Ms Tucker is working on drafting the criteria for entry. Program participants for the first session will include men living in North Side’s housing programs and several slots are available for women in the community.
